Northern shoreline of Jackson Lake closed

Grand Teton National Park is temporarily closing sections of the shore along Jackson Lake to protect archaeological areas.
The closure has been posted along the shorelines at the north end of the lake, north of Leek’s Marina.
The park typically closes the areas when water levels on Jackson Lake are low enough to uncover old American Indian sites that are usually under water. The Bureau of Reclamation reported Jackson Lake was 31 percent of capacity on Thursday.
Jackson Lake remains open to boating and fishing, but boaters cannot beach their craft in the closed area and people may not enter the closed area by any means. Removing any artifacts or disturbing archaeological sites is prohibited in the park.
Boat ramps at Signal Mountain and Leek’s Marina are open, but park officials say conditions are marginal.
