Police ask people to claim stolen property

By Amanda H. Miller, Jackson Hole, Wyo.

Jackson Police found a cache of what they believe are stolen items and hope people might be able to identify their missing belongings.
Police arrested Zack Bond, 30, Tuesday night after they recovered a stolen paraglider from his house.

When they arrived at the home in East Jackson Tuesday night they noticed numerous other items including skis, musical instruments, iPods, CDs, stereo and sporting equipment that they suspect were stolen.

They identified a few items that had been reported stolen and called the owners. But there are numerous other items police have no record of, but believe are stolen. They took pictures of several items and posted them at www.jacksonholepolice.com.

Community members are encouraged to visit the Web site and look through the photos. If they spot something that was stolen from them they should call Jackson Police Detective Andy Pearson at 733-1430.

Bond was caught after a new roommate moved in with him. The roommate thought the collection of items in the house strange.

A lot of the equipment, like the paraglider, wasn’t something Bond used. It also had a last name written on the back of it.

The roommate asked friends if they knew of someone with the last name written on the back of the paraglider in his house.

It turned out that the person had a paraglider stolen out of his car recently, Pearson said.

“If anybody wants to call us and they can identify their stuff, we would love to get their things back for them,” Pearson said.
