Comment on plan for snowmobiles by today

Though Yellowstone National Park officials have committed to allowing 720 snowmobiles a day in the park this winter, they say comments are still needed on an earlier plan that would have allowed 318 machines.
Those comments are due by today.
Officials released a temporary plan for snowmobiles in early November that would have allowed 318 commercially guided machines a day for the upcoming winter. The National Park Service subsequently abandoned the plan after U.S. District Judge Clarence A. Brimmer reinstated the 2004 plan that allows 720 machines.
However, park officials say comments on the plan for 318 machines will help them formulate a permanent rule.
The proposed rule and an electronic form to submit written comments are available at www.regulations.gov/search/index.jsp. People can find the proposed rule by searching the “Documents Open For Public Comment” and selecting the National Park Service as the agency.
