Jackson Hole Mountain Resort unveiled Car 1 of the new Jackson Hole Aerial Tram on Dec. 19, 2008, as a crowd of about 2,000 whooped in approval.

Covered in a gossamer cape, the ski lift cabin descended like a ghost through a swirling snowstorm and into a crossfire of spotlights where its veil finally dropped. As skiers and snowboarders saw its structure and design for the first time – the resort kept the cars covered since they were hung on the cables in late October – they cheers as fireworks erupted from the car's crown and Santa slid out of its belly on a rope and down 60 feet to the ground.
