Etna resident will serve on Lower Valley board

By Kevin Huelsmann, Jackson Hole, Wyo.
May 4, 2009

The Lower Valley Energy board of directors on Friday selected Etna resident Nancy Winters as its board member for the Hoback Junction area.

Winters will serve out the term of previous District 3 board member Thelma Crook, who resigned in March.

Crook’s term is set to end June 25, which is when the board will announce the results of its election.

Board members chose Winters after interviewing a pool of applicants who had submitted letters of interest for the position.

There will be two positions up for election: District 3, which covers Hoback Junction north to Little Horsethief Canyon and the Bondurant and Green River Lakes areas, and District 4, which covers the Wilson, Skyline Ranch and Indian Springs areas.

Current District 4 board member Ted Ladd said he plans to run for re-election this summer.

Lower Valley members will be mailed ballots at the end of May. Members are able to vote for any district’s candidates.

Voting results will be announced at the board’s June 25 meeting, which is scheduled to be at Lower Valley’s Jackson office.

Candidates for the two positions must be nominated by at least 10 members from any district, must reside in the district they wish to represent and may not have worked for Lower Valley within the last five years or be employed or have a financial interest in any business that sells energy.
