The Teton County Family Health Fair wraps up this week with free prostate screenings for men that continue through Wednesday.

Local providers are donating their time for this week’s examinations, which target men older than 50 or with a family history. About 20 men attended the prostate clinic Monday morning and more had made appointments for today and Wednesday.

The biggest health fair event was Saturday, when an estimated 1,000 to 1,200 people walked among the 72 booths and participated in a variety of free screenings at the annual Teton County Family Health Fair and inaugural Volunteer Fair at Snow King Center.

The event lasted from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and attracted the usual crowd, St. John’s Medical Center spokeswoman Karen Connelly said Monday.

Booths focused on a wide variety of health topics, from gluten-free recipes to eye exams and hearing tests.

One popular stop for the younger crowd was the Teddy Bear Clinic, where kids brought their stuffed animals and dolls for checkups, shots and sometimes separated limbs.

Ashley Moyer, 6, of Wilson, brought in her doll Kyler so Dr. Tom Pockat and his staff could take a look.

The doll had broken a leg after falling off her bicycle, Ashley explained.

Area doctors also provided free interpretations for those who had received a blood wellness screening between Feb. 1 and Friday. The St. John’s lab drew blood from 4,080 people during the three months, including 120 people at Saturday’s event.
