Lodging bookings returned to below three-quarters occupancy following the holiday weekend, according to the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce’s latest survey.
This week’s lodging survey compares rooms booked for Saturday with reservations for July 12, 2008.
The weekend forecast reported 71 percent of rooms are booked throughout the valley, a 20 percent slip from last year’s 89 percent occupancy. The July Fourth holiday weekend sparked a rise in reservations last week, with 78 percent of rooms full.
Accommodations in downtown Jackson and Teton Village led the lodging barometer with 82 percent and 70 percent occupancy, respectively. Reservations at both locations dropped 9 percent from 2008. Next best: the outlying Jackson area, with 69 percent occupancy, a 16 percent slip from the 82 percent reported in 2008. At the bottom of the barometer, Grand Teton National Park/Moran reported a 35 percent drop in occupancy, from 98 percent in 2008 to 64 percent this weekend.
