From Staff Reports
July 15, 2009

Great divide

The planning commissioner who reversed his vote to send the comprehensive plan back to staff to revise said he made the decision in order to unify Jackson’s and Teton County’s review of the document. But the vote has led to divisions within his own board, with a pair of commissioners tossing about angry accusations.

Pack goats

Carole-Malia Schneider’s back and neck hurt too much to backpack to her favorite backcountry destinations. Sugga Bugga and Ding Dong are going to help her get back there. She’s training the goat twins to haul, follow and behave.

Team tandem

Imagine spending 18 straight days with your spouse on a tandem mountain bike. That’s what Wilson residents Jay and Tracey Petervary did last month. The couple became the first tandem racers to bike the Tour Divide race. They finished the 2,800-mile race in third place and returned to Jackson even stronger than when they left.

Stacking critters

Artist Amy Ringholz, previously known for her animal portraiture, is working vertically on new canvases that include more than one creature. The totem-style paintings debut Thursday at Jackson’s newest gallery, Altamira Fine Art.

Hugs for sale

Who says you can’t get something for free? A group of teenagers gives away hugs Sundays on Town Square, brightening their own days and bringing smiles to strangers’ faces.
