A bison reportedly injured a hunter who shot it Saturday near Shadow Mountain.

Teton County Sheriff Jim Whalen said he did not have an official report Sunday but had been briefed that a hunter shot the animal and that as he approached it, the bison got up and charged him. Whalen said he believed the man suffered injuries including a fractured hip and was airlifted to a hospital.

A companion of the hunter shot and killed the bison after it charged, Whalen said.
