Bear-spray bill
Overnight backcountry users in national parks, licensed anglers and hunters, outfitters and possibly even people cutting down Christmas trees would have to carry bear pepper spray under a bill Teton County Attorney Steve Weichman is working on. Weichman’s effort is in response to an increasing number of grizzly bears killed by people in the Greater Yellowstone Area.
Girls explore science
Eighteen ninth-grade girls gathered at the Kelly Campus of Teton Science Schools last week to immerse themselves in science. They worked with a pika researcher, debated wolf management plans and studied water quality.
Sumo in town
The Snake River Sumo Association comes to Jackson on Saturday evening when 16 competitors from around the country convene in Jackson Hole High School’s gymnasium for a night of sumo wrestling.
Sweet three-peat
The Jackson Hole High School girls’ swimming and diving team captured its third consecutive Class 3A state championship Friday. The team did so with its most dominating performance of the season.
Sword play
Even in William Shakespeare’s time, sword fighting drew folks to the theater. Tonight, Off Square Theatre Company clanks onto the stage with “Macbeth,” the bard’s most popular play, filled with broadsword fight scenes.
