Driggs man pleads not guilty to drug charges

By Sarah Lison, Jackson Hole, Wyo.
December 9, 2009

A Driggs, Idaho, man pleaded not guilty last week to selling 16 Ecstasy tablets in April to a confidential informant working with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

Jose Diaz, 21, appeared for an arraignment hearing before 9th District Judge Nancy Guthrie on charges of delivery of a controlled substance and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance. He is being held in the Teton County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.

Court documents allege Diaz called the DCI informant April 15 and said another man, later identified as Miron Ikaev, 21, had Ecstasy tablets for sale for $20 each. On April 20, the informant met Diaz and Ikaev, of Jackson, in Town Square and paid $320 to Ikaev, who handed a cigarette package that contained 16 tablets to Diaz, who handed it to the informant, records say.

The informant took the package and talked to the two about possibly buying 1,000 Ecstasy tablets in the future, records say.

A state lab confirmed the tablets were Ecstasy and provided the results to DCI in late June, records say. Diaz and Ikaev were arrested in late October.

Guthrie told Diaz a plea agreement is permissible but that she had the right to reject it.

Ikaev also is being held on charges of delivery of a controlled substance and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance. He’s scheduled to enter a plea during a hearing this afternoon in 9th District Court.
