Town planning board chooses new leaders

By Kevin Huelsmann, Jackson Hole, Wyo.
December 21, 2009

Jackson Planning Commissioners Barbara Allen and Paul Nash will take over the top two spots on the board when it resumes its review of the Jackson/Teton County Comprehensive Plan next month.

During a meeting last week, planning commissioners voted to elect new officers for the new year.

Allen was elected chairwoman of the planning commission.

She will replace Michael Pruett, who has served as the chairman of the commission for the past two years.

Pruett could not run for chairman because of term limits set by state law.

Nash was elected vice chairman, which means he will step in for Allen when she is absent.

Planning Commissioner Lisa daCosta is the current vice chairwoman.

DaCosta was nominated to serve as chairwoman but received only one vote. Allen received five votes.

DaCosta was nominated to serve another term as vice chairwoman but turned down the nomination.

Two planning commissioners — Jamie Walter and Jessica Rutzick — were absent from the meeting. The commissioners who were present decided to take a vote to avoid delaying the elections.

Nash, who was appointed to the commission this summer, was voted in unanimously. Nash’s and Pruett’s terms expire in July 2012.

Allen’s term expires in July 2011.
