Candidate forums planned for August and October

July 11, 2012

The League of Women Voters, in conjunction with Teton County Library and Jackson Hole media, has scheduled political forums for the upcoming elections.

A “Know the Candidates Night” will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 13 at Davey Jackson Elementary School. Voters will have an opportunity to meet candidates in an informal setting and talk about issues.

Before the evening, candidates will receive a list of questions to which they are expected to respond. Those answers will be made available to media outlets before the evening and could be published and broadcast.

Focus will be on contested races: Jackson Town Council and the Republican state house race for District 16.

For the general election, the organizations will host three nights of forums Oct. 15, 16 and 18 in St. John’s Episcopal Church’s Hansen Hall.

During this event, candidates will have an opportunity to make a brief statement and then will face questions from a panel.
