The Jackson Hole Community Pathways Taskforce, the airport board and the Teton County Planning Commission drew the most applications of 11 boards seeking members.

The three boards attracted 19 applicants who hope to fill seats opening this winter. Most of the candidates for the trio of boards are newcomers.

For all 11 boards, there were 34 people applying for 22 spots slated to open within the next few months. The boards review plans and oversee everything from public transportation to affordable housing.

The application period for the boards closed Tuesday afternoon.

County commissioners will interview candidates Wednesday for county boards. Town and county officials will meet with the rest of the candidates Dec. 10.

Elected officials typically decide on appointments soon after interviewing applicants. The process could conclude before recently elected town councilors and county commissioners take office. They’re not slated to be sworn into office until early January.

The Pathways Taskforce attracted eight applicants, seven of whom were new to the board. They’re vying for four spots on the nine-person board.

Kevin Burke is the only incumbent board member who reapplied. The other applicants are Dina Mishev, Alexander Muromcew, Karen Saner, Richard Pampe, Scott Landale, Ben Brettell and Darin Martens.

The airport board is even tighter, with six people seeking a single spot on the board.

Board President Jack Larimer, whose seat expires at the end of January, re-applied for another term. He initially said he didn’t plan to do so.

Larimer is facing five other applicants. John Eastman, Bryan McDearman, Dick Scarlett, Bill Best and Larry Sheehan also submitted their names.

The other seat to be filled is on the county planning commission. Mark Newcomb, whose term expires at the end of the year, is seeking reappointment. Fellow commissioner Peter Stewart, whose term also ends this year, did not reapply.

Claire Fuller, who ran for county commissioner in the recent election, applied for a spot on the board, as did Steve Duerr, Bob Nigro and Tim Glick.

Elected officials also are expected to fill seats on the Alta Solid Waste Dis-posal Committee, the Board of Health, the Teton County Housing Authority, the Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling Board, the Administrative Museum Board, the Natural Resources Technical Advisory Committee, the Parks and Recreation Board, and the START board.
