At 11:30 a.m. today, the Senior Center of Jackson Hole will host free blood pressure checks and also have someone available to answer questions about Medicare.
From 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, the Senior Center will hold the annual flu shot clinic. Flu shots will be given by Public Health nurses. Please remember to bring your Medicare card. Cost without Medicare is $15.
At 8 a.m. on Thursday, the Rec Center will take a group of seniors to Old Faithful. The trip costs $13. For reservations, call 739-9025.
At 2 p.m. on Friday, a caregiver support group will meet at the Senior Center. Refreshments will be served. This is a time for caregivers to meet for sharing and support. The group will be facilitated by Sheila Sandubrae Davis, R.N. Call Paula to sign up, 733-7300.
From 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, the Senior Center will have free 15-minute chair massages. For an appointment, call the Senior Center.
At 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the senior book group will discuss the book Franklin and Winston by Jon Meacham. The book selection for November will be Saturday by Ian McEwan.
At 11 a.m. on Tuesday, seniors will be playing Nintendo Wii games at the Senior Center.
At 5 p.m. on Oct. 8, the Rec Center will take a group of seniors on an elk bugling trip in Grand Teton National Park. The trip costs $5; sign up at the Rec Center by noon Monday.
St. John’s Medical Center invites you to the next “Lite Lunch” educational program. On Oct. 14, join Dr. Richard Ofstein for a discussion on breast cancer screenings. Dr. Ofstein is a board-certified radiologist with a certificate of added qualifications in Neuroradiology. He completed his residency at UCLA in 1984 and was in private practice in Los Angeles before joining Jackson Hole Medical Imaging in 2005. The discussion will be from noon to 1 p.m. in the Moose-Wapiti Classrooms at St. John’s Medical Center. Call 739-7244 for information.
River Rock Lodge hosted a wonderful lunch recently of a feast prepared by a great chef and his exceptional staff. Those enjoying the afternoon included Tom, Cile, Kerry and Tracy Lamb, Phyllis Turtle, Shannon Wells, Lanny Detrick, Sylvia Vroman, Gloria Stewart, John Kjos, Carolyn (Scottie) Dejanikus, Julie and Fred Sanderson, Charlene Ryan Shervin, Joan DeMarsh, Art Dru, Kathy Buchner, Betty and Judy Legg, Arlo, Dalia and Derek Niederer, John Poljanec, Ruth, David and Craig Carpenter, Keith Shorts, Clancy Green, Barbara and Bill Rinker, Betty Chambers, Carol Black, Larry Cloetta, and Milton and Kathy Karahadian, along with their nephew Roberto Medlicott and friend Robin Buchan, who were in town visiting from South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
