Color Run

Participants in last year’s Color Run throw bright dust in the air. A Jackson Hole High School club is organizing another 5-kilometer race to benefit One22.

Jackson Hole High School students are organizing a 5-kilometer run/walk to benefit One22.

Color Runs are known for their stations around the course where participants are dowsed with color. Everyone will receive a free white T-shirt to wear.

The run will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday on the bike path starting at the high school. Entrance fees are $15 for those who sign up early online — go to and search for 2019 JHHS Rotary Interact Color Run — and $20 for day-of registration.

Dogs are OK to bring and run for free.

The school’s Rotary Interact club puts on the run, which is in its second year.

“Everyone who was in the run last year was extremely pleased with how fun the run was,” senior Jonathan Machuca Gonzalez said. “We hope to re-create the same atmosphere this year.”

Students have worked with One22 before and decided to partner with it again this year. One22 is a resource center that invests in and supports Jacksonites who need assistance or lack critical resources in facing health, financial and cultural challenges. Programs include language access, emergency assistance, immigrant services and community education.

“The organization also provides great help to a large portion of the community, and we wanted to contribute to the work they do,” Machuca Gonzalez said.

Rotary Interact is a student-led service club that works on projects that benefit the community, as well as communities internationally. The club has sent packages to an orphanage in Africa and a school in Costa Rica. It also partners with the Jackson Hole Cupboard for food drives and collects gifts for families in need during Christmas time, called the Angel Tree project.
