Comments on social media erupted last week as Snow King Mountain asked for input on naming new ski runs and a chair lift.

Requested on Tuesday, by Friday afternoon there were more than 200 suggestions for the new lines, two on the mountain’s north side and others on the newly created southern bowls on the back side.

“We have a few top contenders already that you need to beat out with your name: Sunny Side for the lift on the back, and Shady Lady for our new steepest run on the mountain off the East Peak,” the resort said in a Facebook post.

Many name suggestions were after people important to the community and Snow King, like Sully’s Gully for Jim Sullivan and Lopez Lane for former Snow King general manager Manuel Lopez. Briggs’ Couloir, Briggs Bowl and Briggs Diggs were also suggested for longtime employee Bill Briggs.

Several people took the call for entries as an opportunity to rib the resort, as the building of the lift and new runs were not without controversy.

“Steepest run should be called ‘rent run,’ ” Bryce Thornberry wrote, in a dig at rental prices in town.

“Homeless local chute” was also suggested.

Suzanne Watts suggested “Slow Poke” for a beginner run. Many people stuck with the egg theme, suggesting runs on the sunny side of the King to be “Over Easy” or “Sunshine Slope.”

Playing off the name Snow King, some suggested “Snow Queen,” “Snow Princess” and “Ice Queen.”

Other people suggested nods to eras gone by, with names like LeeJay’s, The Log Cabin and The Rancher, along with much support for retaining the name Shady Lady, the longtime bar in Snow King Resort Hotel.

People can post ideas on the Facebook page, and Snow King will reach out to the winner with a season pass. The resort did not give a timeline and said it will award the pass to the first person who responds with an entry they all like.

Several sources reported that Snow King has deleted many of the comments digging at the resort's expansion. It was also noted that comments about the deletion of comments were also deleted. Make sense? -wr

I think "Clear Cutter", "Habitat Destroyer", and "View Crusher" all have a ring to them.
