JHHS football vs. Buffalo

Jackson quarterback Sadler Smith hands off to running back Brody Hasenack during the third quarter of the Wyoming 3A football quarterfinal Friday against Buffalo. The Broncs dismantled the Bison for a 75-27 win to advance to the 3A semifinals next week.

The Jackson Hole High School Broncs (8-2) football team defeated the Buffalo Bison (5-4) 75-27 Friday afternoon, advancing to the semifinal round of the 3A state football championships.

Out of the gate, the Broncs offense exploded, as head coach David Joyce opened up his playbook and got each of his playmakers involved.

Senior running back Brody Hasenack tallied five touchdowns, including four on the ground, while getting plenty of push from his heavily experienced offensive line.

The senior also ran back a pick-six late in the third quarter, capping off his career night.

Through the air, fellow seniors Colter Dawson and Nate Keipert both played key roles on offense.

While the Bison defense had little answer for the looks Joyce was offering, it was their explosive plays that ultimately kept them in the game through the first half.

Bison wide receiver Blake Bell was undoubtably the best player on their sideline on Friday night, finding the end zone three times in the first half both through the air and on special teams. Bell’s three big plays ended up being the entirety of the Bison offense during the first half.

After the Broncs made a goal line stand on defense just prior to halftime, they were set up in a position to pull away while also receiving the preceding kickoff out of break.

The Broncs didn’t miss a beat during the second half, picking up right where they left off and piling it on the visiting Bison.

With Buffalo unable to find answers defensively, the Broncs were able to put the game away, get the second string players in, and drain down the clock for a comfortable victory.

“The Jackson Broncs put on a show tonight,” Coach Joyce said after the win. “If this is the last home game for our senior class, they put on a show. I’m proud of them.”
