Neo Emery launches off a ramp during the snowboard slopestyle last week at Snow King. While the Rail Jam course has been a staple at Snow King, recent renovations have brought a new look to the skier/boarder cross and slopestyle courses. Last week’s events served as a testing ground for the new digs, which were built to host the U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association championships slated for next month. Despite weather challenges and finding the manpower to transform the courses, Jackson Hole Ski and Snowboard Club Freeride Program Director Rob LaPier said he’s heard nothing but positives about the state of the terrain. “It was a great way to test out how things worked and give local kids access,” he said, noting the plan is to open access to the public in coming weeks. Among the many locals to put down top performances, LaPier noted freeskier Bennett Balogh stood out among the quick runs.
