On Sunday afternoon on the sidelines of a public gathering and conversation about racism on Town Square a 20-year-old shouted “F--- Trump” in the direction of a 62-year-old man who was wearing a Trump hat, according to witnesses. So the 62-year-old punched the 20-year-old. Both men are from Jackson, police said. The young man’s friends, age 18 and 21, hit the 62-year-old back. The three people who threw punches were cited for battery and the 20-year-old was cited for criminal provocation, police said.
On Friday just before 2 a.m. police were called to a noise disturbance. Officers found a driver passed out behind the wheel of a running car with the stereo blasting music. The 31-year-old Jackson man was arrested for DUI.
A drunk woman was being belligerent and refusing to leave a business on Sunday evening. Officers arrested the 41-year-old Houston woman for trespassing.
Just after midnight June 8 police responded to The Virginian for three men who wouldn’t leave. A 20-year-old Victor, Idaho, man was arrested. His 16-year-old friend who had a fake ID was cited and released to family.
A young Jackson resident lost $6,500 in a scam involving an online account they created in order to make money.
On June 10 police responded to a report of a man bleeding from his foot. Officers found out the man had kicked out his girlfriend’s car window. The man had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. The victim didn’t want to press charges.
A 34-year-old Jackson man was arrested for DUI Thursday night after he ran over a street sign.
Officers responded to a dog that bit an 8-year-old child unprovoked. The girl was playing when the dog attacked, police said. The child didn’t need to go to the hospital, and police checked to make sure the dog was vaccinated. They cited a 47-year-old Utah woman who owned the dog.
At 1:20 a.m. Saturday police stopped a car for speeding. There were empty cans of alcohol in the car and the 20-year-old driver “did poorly” on field sobriety tests so he was arrested for DUI.
A sexual assault was reported to police just before 1 a.m. Sunday. Police said they identified and contacted the suspect, and an investigation is underway.
