Taco theft: On Friday at 4:15 p.m. a business reported a highly intoxicated male had left without paying. Officers contacted the 36-year-old Michigander and told him he did not pay for the food and drinks he consumed. He said he had, reportedly opening his wallet and showing officers the money inside. Officers told him he owed $17.49 for the two margaritas and one taco he consumed. Officers observed he was intoxicated. He was arrested on charges of public intoxication and theft. As of the police report, he had not paid his bill.
Precarious paddling: On Saturday, Search and Rescue was notified of a missing person on the whitewater stretch of the Gros Ventre River between Lower Slide Lake and Jumping Rock. His party reported he had been missing for over an hour as they waited for him at Jumping Rock. This is the same stretch of river that claimed the life of a 55-year-old man from Ohio on June 21. As Search and Rescue volunteers initiated a swiftwater rescue response, the missing man, who was on a stand-up paddleboard, was located and the team stood down.
