Preliminary hearing on Wyoming abortion ban

Ninth District Court Judge Melissa Owens said she hopes to issue a decision before noon Wednesday on whether a preliminary injunction will be granted that would block enforcement of Wyoming's abortion ban.

Ninth District Court Judge Melissa Owens said she hopes to issue her written decision by noon Wednesday on whether a preliminary injunction will be issued that would block enforcement of Wyoming's abortion ban after a two-hour hearing Tuesday in a Jackson courtroom.

Special Assistant Attorney General Jay Jerde appeared in person to represent Gov. Mark Gordon and Attorney General Bridget Hill in defending the state's abortion restrictions. Jackson OBGYN Dr. Giovannina Anthony also appeared in court as one of six plaintiffs being represented by attorneys John Robinson and Marci Bramlet.
