Proposed scenic helicopter tours from Wind River Air

Wind River Air owner Tony Chambers is eager to get his scenic flight business aloft, and some impediments to his operation have been jettisoned.

Federal Aviation Administration safety officials wrote to Teton County and Jackson Hole Airport in early February that Chambers has a “continued right to commerce” and that they would not heed a request to reassess his authorization to fly in Jackson Hole, an OK he secured in August 2018.

Former Grand Teton National Park Superintendent Mary Gibson Scott listens to Chambers during a public meeting in December. She said scenic heli flights are inappropriate for national parks.

My heart breaks to hear this news - Jackson Hole being added to the list of aviation noise victim communities. Dear friends, please join us in supporting the Aircraft Noise Reduction Act, H.R. 5423, sponsored by Congressman Joe Neguse (D-CO). If passed, this law would grant explicit authority to the airport sponsor to adopt noise regulations at general aviation airports, i.e. prevent helicopter tours and limit other noisy aviation operations. An amendment by your U.S. House Rep could include commercial airports located within a national park. Please contact all of your Wyoming members of the U.S. House today and urge them to co-sponsor H.R. 5423 - thank you for your support!

This is truly a sad display of how one greedy person's selfishness can burden an entire community with noise pollution, not to mention air pollution. In a time where many of us are doing our best to reduce our impact on the environment, I hope this person takes a long look in the mirror and assesses whether such tours are necessary. Surely there are lower impact ventures he could undertake before going straight to "jetskiing with dolphins!"

Coordinated opposition, keep us informed about any protests or anything our unified citizenry can participate in to try and stop this atrocity! I for one, will be there or help in any way I can to stop this!

Such a tenacious individual should be able to find an income source that isn’t at odds with a wide swath of society. Seriously.

He has no demonstrated concern for the impact to wildlife, residents and our surrounding ecosystem. Regardless of consistent opposition, his profit motive is unflinching in pushing for his commercial Heli trips over the National Elk Refuge, Sleeping Indian and Teton-Bridger Wilderness, with the noise pollution extending well into Grand Teton National Park. It’s amazing that one person can be so destructive to our area. I recommend that those opposed write a google review on Wind River Air LLC.
