Veterans Day

American Legion Post 43 members lead a Veterans Day ceremony Friday morning at the Jackson Town Square. The Teton County School District bused all Jackson Hole High School students and staff to the 11 a.m. ceremony, which is annually timed to commemorate the end of World War I on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

On a cold but bright morning, almost 1,000 students and faculty from Jackson Hole High School gathered with members of the community to remember — on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of the year — Veterans Day.

“This is definitely more people than we have ever had at a Veterans Day ceremony,’’ said Ed Liebzeit, a U.S. Air Force veteran and member of American Legion Post 43, as he opened the celebration on Friday at the Town Square. “It’s terrific.”
