Transit Application Exhibit August

A conceptual plan for the Stilson transit center was approved in Teton County’s successful BUILD Grant application. The plan would see Jackson Hole Mountain Resort convey 5.7 acres of its Stilson land to the county for the center, which would be managed by START.

Despite worry that public costs could get out of hand, the Jackson Town Council decided Monday to keep participating in a federal BUILD grant providing $20 million for 13 transportation projects.

Costs for a START transit center at the intersection of Highways 22 and 390 — the biggest of four BUILD projects that involve START and led by town staff — were estimated at $5.64 million in 2020.

With all due respect to interim Start head, calling this the “lynchpin” to easing the traffic woes is pollyanish. The only easing of traffic will be through a considerable economic pullback. They can build all the Start bus nodes they want but the traffic issue is here to stay.
