With its Shindig in a Box fundraiser the Art Association of Jackson Hole can claim the gold at the end of the rainbow after weathering the two long of years of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shindig in a Box was born at the height of the pandemic from the creative mind of Art Association Executive Director Bronwyn Minton as an alternative to in-person gatherings. With the mighty mission of supporting art education and art makers in Jackson Hole, each box has a little something for every member of the family while highlighting the very best in Jackson Hole eats, drinks and play.
This year the nonprofit is offering two types of boxes to encourage its supporters to gather for at-home merry making.
“It’s a fun way to reconnect during the offseason,” said Kaylee Pickett, events and membership coordinator for the Art Association. “This is also a super fun and unique way to get creative.”
The “Game Box” costs $200 and features art games created by Minton, complete with all of the art supplies needed to play, as well as an Art Association-branded bandana and a $50 gift card from Pinky G’s.
The “Champagne Box” costs $300 and includes two ceramic cups by artist and Art Association Director of Communications Anika Youcha, a bottle of champagne from Niner Estates and dinner for two from Sweet Cheeks.
For 57 years the Art Association has worked to make Jackson Hole a lively and fertile arts town, offering classes, managing gallery spaces, selling art supplies and hosting fun artsy events, including two summer art fairs.
This May the nonprofit also will hold a membership drive. Members get discounts on classes, workshops and art supplies, as well as invitations to participate in the Annual Members’ Exhibition, currently on display in the Art Association Gallery through May 26. Members also get access to five studios in the Center for the Arts: the photography, video and digitals arts studio, the multimedia studio, the Linda McGregor Ceramics Studio, the painting, drawing and printmaking studio, and the Borshell Children’s Studio. They can participate in the organization’s juried art fairs, with a discount on applications, and are eligible for nomination to the nationally recognized Fall Arts Festival’s QuickDraw event, among other benefits.
Memberships start at $60 for individuals and $100 for families, with other levels available up to the $10,000 Leadership tier.
Shindig boxes go on sale Sunday and will be available through May 15. They can be picked up at the Art Association or delivered by request.
Since moving to Jackson Hole in 1992, Richard has covered everything from local government and criminal justice to sports and features. He currently concentrates on arts and entertainment, heading up the Scene section.
