It’s no secret that dogs don’t love baths. And if you’ve ever had to wash your dog at home, you also know it’s no easy — or clean — task.

“Whenever I bathe my dog at home I spend a few minutes washing and then spend an hour cleaning up my bathroom,” said Jessica Borneman, owner of Pet Place Plus.

Not anymore. Pet Place Plus’s new dog washing services take the mess out of cleaning your dog.

Last year, the pet supply store opened a do-it-yourself dog washing room that comes with essential grooming tools you may not have known you were missing at home, including special brushes, a shampoo mixer and a dryer. The store’s industrial-size tub has high sides and a ramp, making it especially easy for larger and older dogs to enter the suds zone. And, if your dog shakes during washes as much Borneman’s Lab mix, the store provides aprons and goggles to keep you dry.

Whether your dog needs a spray down after a particularly muddy adventure or is simply itching for its seasonal deep clean, the store allows walk-ins and reservations for do-it-yourself washers for $15 during normal business hours, except the last hour of each day.

Recently, Pet Place Plus also started offering professional dog cleaning services with its on-staff groomer-in-training, Cassandra Campbell.

Prices and times for a full-service dog wash, which includes shampooing and brushing, range from $30 to $65 based on your dog’s size and breed. Full-service dog washes require appointments, which can be made online.

Not only will your pups leave squeaky clean, they may just find out that baths really aren’t that bad after all.

“My friendly and lovable golden retriever, Wally, really doesn’t like baths, as she would rather be rolling in something disgusting,” said customer Elizabeth Cheroutes. “But she was so happy after her bath.

“She was proud to be clean (I think) and she looked and smelled so pretty! I felt like it was the best experience she’s had locally, and I will absolutely be scheduling some regular washings for her.”

The store also can accommodate online ordering and curbside pickup for any other products your pet needs.
