A home health care worker went to Heinrich “Heinz” Johann Karl Munz and Barbel “Babs” Munz’s home on Tuesday for a scheduled appointment, Teton County Sheriff’s Sgt. Todd Stanyon said, but no one answered the door.
The nurse returned Wednesday around 12:30 p.m. and heard voices inside, so she went in.
“The door was unlocked, and that’s when she saw the female victim,” Stanyon said. “The voices she heard was the TV that was on.”
The nurse left and called 911.
Deputies found the body of Babs Munz, 64, who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. The body of Heinz Munz, 69, was found in the same room with a revolver nearby.
The Teton County Sheriff’s Office, Teton County Coroner’s Office and Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation are continuing to investigate the incident.
As of press time Wednesday, investigators were waiting on a search warrant to further look for clues inside the home.
The bodies appeared to have been there “a few days,” Stanyon said.
There is no suspected danger to area residents, and no outstanding suspects are being sought at this time, officials said.
Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue said he could not provide an official ruling on the cause of death until the investigation is complete.
