Sarah Keller of Bozeman, Montana, received the 2020 Pattie Layser Greater Yellowstone Creative Writing and Journalism Fellowship.

The 2020 Pattie Layser Greater Yellowstone Creative Writing and Journalism Fellowship recipient was announced today.

Sarah Keller of Bozeman, Montana, will receive the $3,500 grant for her project titled “Out of Fire and Ice: Climate change is showing archaeologists that the high Northern Rockies were once more crowded than imagined.”

Several other applicants received honorable mentions including Mike Koshmrl of Jackson, Hannah Habermann of Jackson and Kristen Pope of Victor.

Keller is a freelance journalist who fell into the profession after getting a master's degree in earth science. Climate science is a unifying theme of much of her journalistic work, and she has written for a diversity of publications from High Country News to Conservative Magazine. In recent years, much of her work has focused on wildlife biology and hunting.
