Reported internet outages in Teton County may disrupt online learning and remote work for the day. How long the outages will last is uncertain.

Teton County School District No. 1 spokeswoman Charlotte Reynolds said she heard from some staff this morning, who let her know that their internet was down and that their online classrooms could be disrupted.

"Some staff had said they were told it could be out until around noon," Reynolds said. "Others communicated that they understood the outage could last until about 3 o’clock this afternoon."

News&Guide staff also experienced internet outages at their homes in Wilson and Kelly.

Internet service has returned in Wilson.

In Kelly, a phone robot told the News&Guide staffer that internet would be likely be out until about 3 p.m.

Reynolds sent out an email earlier this morning letting parents know about the outages in case they couldn't get on or "if their students tried to log on and their teacher wasn't there for the session," she said.

She added that she anticipates the outages could last through the online morning sessions, which end at noon.

"Teachers/principals will provide additional information if there are any updates regarding school expectations or class assignments," Reynolds wrote in the release.

The cause of the outages is unknown.
