Opening day at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

Skiers and riders head downhill on Sundog and Easy Does It below the Casper chairlift during a previous opening day at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Snowpack may be slight so far this year, but the resort has announced it plans to open on schedule on Thanskgiving.

Get your skis and snowboards waxed and sharpened riders, because Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is set to open its 2021-2022 season on Thursday.

While the resort waited until the last second to make a final call after days of uncertainty stemming from increased temperatures in the area, representatives ultimately made the decision Tuesday to start the season as planned.

“Mother Nature has been off to a slow start on the lower mountain, but with increased snowmaking capacity and a dedicated staff working around the clock, we are thrilled to open our lifts this Thursday,” said JHMR President Mary Kate Buckley in a press release.

The mountain will open at 9 a.m. with Teewinot Chairlift, Sweetwater Gondola to its mid-station, Après Vous Lift and the Solitude covered surface lift all open through 4 p.m.
