START Bus personnel are looking for feedback as the transit agency embarks on a process to reexamine its routes.
The agency has hired consultants to complete a “route plan” for 2020-25, evaluating how START might reallocate its existing resources — about 63,000 bus hours per year — to increase ridership and get more cars off the roads.
The first step is a community survey, available now at https://www.lsctrans.com/start. It asks respondents questions about their current ridership patterns, areas for improvement, and what would entice riders to hop on the bus more often.
Following completion of the survey, next steps will include a public workshop to review possible route options.
A recommended route plan is expected to be produced in March 2020 for consideration by the START board and the Jackson Town Council.
