Acting on a citizens’ initiative brought forward last year regarding an ordinance viewed by some as discriminatory and an opportunity for landlords to take advantage of workforce tenants, the Jackson staff and Town Council considered new language in relevant Land Development Regulations to replace the word “family” with “household unit.”

Ordinance 473, first adopted in 1993, prohibits more than three people not related by blood — i.e., not “family” — from living in the same home.
