With summer well behind, a brief fall slipping away and winter almost upon the valley, lacrosse would seemingly be well out of mind in Jackson Hole.

But a quick look around town any weekday will have one of the many fields in town dotted with players in full gear, toting their sticks and getting their reps in.

It’s the Fall Ball season, when the Jackson Hole Lacrosse Club gives its members not involved in established fall sports the chance to keep their skills sharp well before the traditional spring season opens.

For those “Lax Rats” who treat the game as much more than a fledgling sport in the West, there was an opportunity to work with two of the best lacrosse players the world has to offer, right here in town early last week.

Tom Schreiber and Matt McMahon, both stars of the Archers Lacrosse Club of the new Premier Lacrosse League, could be found at East Field, coaching kids through their drills and posing for photos once it wrapped up.
