The bison drive started off promising at Triangle X Ranch in Grand Teton National Park on Friday morning. But a mile or so after pointing south toward the National Elk Refuge on the plowed and closed highway, the herd bailed to the west and started circling back north. Motorists had to hold tight while Wyoming Game and Fish Department personnel tried to redirect the herd. The park reopened the highway at 11:35 a.m. after the bison turned back south.
