CLC Mercill shutdown

Children’s Learning Center shut down its Mercill Avenue location, the backyard of which is shown in this 2019 file picture, after someone at the site tested positive for coronavirus.

Most kids at Children's Learning Center's Mercill Avenue location will go back to their classrooms Thursday.

The Teton County Health Department approved the child care facility to reopen after a coronavirus case was identified within its Mercill Avenue site. It had closed Tuesday to sanitize the preschool and allow contact tracers to begin their investigation.

Now, the contact tracers have determined the extent of the person's contacts at the child care center and that only one classroom needs to remain closed.

"The health department has determined that no other classrooms were affected and that all people who were in contact with the virus have been contacted and given further guidance," Executive Director Patti Boyd told the News&Guide.

Children's Learning Center has not shared whether the case was a child or teacher, citing privacy reasons. Either way, it appears that classroom, and all its people, was isolated from others at the site. That means the affected classroom will remain closed for 14 days, but kids and teachers in other classrooms can return.
