A celebration of life for Jean Congdon Adams will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 4 in the Performing Arts Pavilion at the Center for the Arts. Adams died of heart failure Oct. 25 in Norwalk, Conn. She was 87. Her family provided the following.
Jean was born April 7, 1926, to Robert and Dorothy Moore Congdon in Minneapolis. They moved to Duluth, Minn., in 1928. She attended Dana Hall in Wellesley, Mass., for three years, graduating in 1944, and graduated from Smith College in Northampton, Mass., in 1948, with a Bachelor of Science in geology. She had hoped to gain employment in that field but was thwarted by the less-than-liberated attitudes of the day; whereupon she informed her then-boyfriend Salisbury Adams that he was indeed ready to get married, which they did in 1948.
