Spencer Morton

Spencer Morton searches for trout along lower Flat Creek in 2017. A memorial service was held Sunday for Morton, who died last Monday at the age of 38.

A memorial service for Spencer Morton will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Jackson Hole Fly Fishing School, 3900 S. Fall Creek Road. Jackson resident Morton, 38, died May 10.

Morton was the owner of Jackson Hole Fly Fishing School and had two decades of fly-fishing experience, garnering the “Top Wyoming Guide” honors at the 2012 and 2013 Jackson Hole One Fly. He was also an accomplished athlete, playing for the Moose hockey team and regularly competed for the Triple Crown title, winning it in 2012.

Attendees for Morton’s service are asked to bring their favorite thoughts or memories of him, which the family will compile to show his children. They can also be emailed privately to julia_minshall@yahoo.com.

Parking will be limited at the service, so shuttles will take people from the Stilson lot. People are asked to carpool or take the shuttles.
