Western tanager

This weekend’s cold snap paused the migration of one of our most beautiful birds, the western tanager. While a few stay here to raise their young, most migrate farther north. They were seen in unusually large numbers throughout Jackson Hole and Teton Valley.

Ryan Dorgan joined the staff as a photographer in 2016. He previously worked for newspapers in Casper, Vermont and his home state of Indiana.
